Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be the first Star Wars Anthology film (a stand-alone story set in the Star Wars universe) and is scheduled for release in December 2016.

The film is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, from an idea by visual effects supervisor John Knoll. Rogue One will feature appearances by  Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk.

Here’s the film’s premise: “Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a wayward band of Rebel fighters come together to carry out a desperate mission: to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule.” In other words, Rogue One takes place somewhere after Episode III: Revenge Of the Sith and before Episode IV: A New Hope.

Two days ago the trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released and it looks bloody awesome. Check it out below:

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really looking forward to this film and to Star Wars Episode VIII (which will be released in 2017).
