Second trailer released for Star Trek Beyond

I just found out that Star Trek Beyond will have its world premiere on the 20th of July 2016 and the little geek inside of me just jumped up and down, did 20 cart wheels and went completely bananas.

I’m a huge fan of the new Star Trek crew. I think the reboot (which started in 2009) gave the franchise just what it needed: An updated storyline,  a new timeline (and I really don’t give a shit about the hardcore Trekkies who were bitching about it), a more hip version of the characters and improved special effects.’

Star Trek Beyond

I really enjoyed 2009’s Star Trek and 2013’s Star Trek: Into Darkness and I’m absolutely looking forward to Star Trek Beyond. In case you’re not aware of the premise of the upcoming film, here it is:

After stopping off at Starbase Earhart, a remote outpost on the fringes of Federation space, the USS Enterprise, halfway into their five-year mission, is destroyed by a powerful, unstoppable wave of unknown aliens. With the crew stranded on a unknown planet and with no apparent means of rescue, they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy who has a well-earned hatred of the Federation and what it stands for.

Reading that premise for the first time really got me excited. The first trailer for Star Trek Beyond also increased my excitement levels, but the new trailer was released yesterday and it has sent my excitement levels into overdrive. It looks friggin’ awesome. Just check it out below and you’ll agree:

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m definitely heading off to the cinema to watch this one. The film will feature performances by Chris Pine, Sofia Boutella, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, Idris Elba and others and promises to be one of the best films of 2016.

What do you think? Are you heading off to the cinema to watch it when it’s released or are you giving it a skip? Leave a comment and let me know.
