In case you did not know, Burning Man Festival is a week-long annual event held in the Black Rock Desert in Northern Nevada in the USA.
The Burning Man Festival begins on the last Monday in August and ends on the first Monday in September (which coincides with the American Labor Day holiday). In 2011 attendance was capped at 50,000 participants and the event sold out. Pretty crazy if you ask me.
The Burning Man Festival has a few rules. There’s an enforced grid street structure, a speed limit of 8 km/h and a ban on driving (except for approved “mutant vehicles” and service vehicles) and there’s safety standards on mutant vehicles. You can only burn your own art on an approved burn platform. There’s also a ban on fireworks, firearms and dogs.
I’m not to sure if this is my kind of festival though. 50,000 people in the desert is a bit crazy and I will be pushing my limits. I’m pretty sure that the Burning Man Festival has its share of extreme hippies and off-their-tits drug users. On the flip side it might be cool to do something that I’ve never done before (like Tomorrowland), so you never know.
This photo features a Skydiver Decending his way down over the Burning Man Festival. It has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 12th of September 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring the World Trade Center on 9/11 was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out.
