Sound City is gonna blow you away!
Great news for music lovers, Sound City is coming in 2013! The film is directed by Foo Fighters frontman and lead vocalist Dave Grohl. Sound City tells the story of Sound City studios which was most notable for being the recording studio for albums such as Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours and Nirvana’s Nevermind.
Sound City studio was operated since 1970 by the Skeeter family and was located in Van Nuys, California in the USA. Until their closure in May 2011, Sound City was used by artists like Tom Petty, REO Speedwagon, Rage Against the Machine, Johnny Cash, Metallica and Everclear. One of the mixing consoles was removed to make room for sound stages. The mixing console is now owned by Dave Grohl.
Sound City is scheduled for release in February 2013. Audiences and music lovers can expect appearances by Tom Petty, Corey Taylor (of Slipknot and Stone Sour fame), Trent Rentzor (from Nine Inch Nails), Mick Fleetwood, Lars Ulrich (from Metallica), Dave Grohl, Josh Hume (from Queens of the Stone Age) and others. The Sound City soundtrack will feature the song “Cut Me Some Slack”, written by Dave Grohl, Paul McCartney and his former band mates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. Dave Grohl has dispelled rumours that there is no Nirvana reunion tour coming up after the release of this film.
