Southern Gypsey Queen and Albert Frost on stage @ Cafe Barcelona
On Saturday I braved the Pretoria cold and made my way to Cafe Barcelona with a few friends. Aidan Martin, the Howlin’ Shabinski and Southern Gypsey Queen (featuring Albert Frost) were on the line-up for the evening. After the Cafe Barcelona crowd were entertained by Aidan Martin (who completely blew my friend @LadyRockerSA away) and the Howlin’ Shabinski it was it was time for the “Queens of the Frost Age” to shine.
Southern Gypsey Queen (or as I also like to call them, the Three Wilsons) played an excellent set and its excellence was only enhanced by the presence of Albert Frost (who has been to each an every Oppikoppi festival since it started in the mid 1990s). Hearing Gareth Wilson on lead guitar and vocals, Tammy Wilson on the bass, Paul Wilson banging the drums and Albert Frost playing some awesome guitar solos was one of the best treats that my eardrums have experienced in 2012.
They pulled it off nicely, playing songs by Southern Gypsey Queen and by Albert Frost and perfectly supporting each other musically. The result was something special. You can ask anyone who was at the gig on Saturday and they’ll tell you the same thing.
I snapped this photo of Southern Gypsey Queen and Albert Frost performing on Saturday at Cafe Barcelona and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 19th of July 2012.
Yesterday a photo featuring The Howlin’ Shabinski on stage @ Cafe Barcelona was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out. Watch this space for daily updates on this blog in the Photography and Babes category.
