In early December 2011 Southern Gypsey Queen, Aidan Martin Band and Shadowclub played a gig at Tings ‘n Times in Hatfield, Pretoria. This was the second last gig that was hosted at the venue before it closed down on the 15th of December. After the Aidan Martin performance Southern Gypsey Queen made their way onto the stage. They played one of the coolest sets I’ve seen them play in a while. For those of you who did not know, Southern Gypsey Queen have their roots in Molteno (a small town in the Eastern Cape). I must say that Gareth Wilson is an excellent guitarist, Tammy Wilson is an excellent bassist and that Paul Wilson plays the drums like a pro. Southern Gypsey Queen are definitely one of the most under rated bands in South Africa. They deserve a lot more attention if you ask me. I snapped this photo of Southern Gypsey Queen at Tings ‘n Times last year and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 29th of January 2011.
Yesterday a photo featuring Black Cat Bones on stage @ Arcade Empire was the Daily Cool Photo. Running Wolf’s Rant is updated daily in the Babes and Photography categories, so come back for your little dose of awesomeness tomorrow.
