This is something awesome, just so you know. Most of you will agree that there’s nothing better than a road trip with friends… To kick off their Summer 2012 campaign, Woolworths RE: Jeanswear will be celebrating all things rock ‘n roll en-route to the annual Oppikoppi Festival (on the farm outside Northam in Limpopo). Six local music fans stand the chance to win an all-expenses paid road trip of a lifetime with RE: Destination Oppikoppi, SA’s most iconic music festival, which kicks off on 9 August 2012.
The ‘Here to There’ van takes to the road on 3 August 2012 and will journey to some of South Africa’s coolest landmarks and towns along the route. The RE: ‘Here to There’ road trip is part of the lead-up to the launch of Woolworths’ RE: Summer 2012 ad campaign featuring Farryl Purkiss, YFM twins Hlelo and Ntando, Chiano-Sky, Ree-Burth and Sannie Fox from Machineri. The campaign itself follows the musicians on a road trip through the Karoo. Rock and RE: have been inseparable since Woolworths re-launched its jeans lifestyle brand in 2011 with a live performance ad, and then moved backstage for Winter 2012.
So How Do You Earn your passport for ‘Here to There’?
Well, from the 22nd to the 30th of June 2012 the RE: crew will take to the streets of Cape Town and Jozi hitting live music hotspots in search of die hard rock fans. How will RE: unearth real fans? With music trivia battles that will challenge contestants’ musical knowledge as well as their passion for Koppi. Do you know your Bonham from your Bowie; your Progressive Rock from your Grunge?
RE: wants to hear all about it, so come and tell us at the following venues:
- 22nd & 23rd June: Arcade Empire (in Pretoria East) and Town Hall (in Newtown, Johannesburg).
- 29th & 30th June: Mercury Live and The Assembly in Cape Town.
If your heart is yearning for rock ‘n roll, mix tapes, well-worn jeans, starlit skies, bonfires and music, come and show the RE: crew what you’ve got.
