From the 9th to the 11th of August I was at Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing on the farm near Northam in the Limpopo Province. The festival was a blast (as you probably have read in My 2 Cents about Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing post). One of the sets that I’m sad that I could not watch in its entirety was Vusi Mahlasela’s set on Wesley’s Dome stage.
Vusi Mahlasela’s set included guest appearances by Albert Frost, Valiant Swart, Karen Zoid and others. I only saw about 15 minutes of it but it was pure awesomeness. Hearing Vusi Mahlasela and Karen Zoid singing “Say Africa” was one of the festival highlights for me. The best thing about this set was that it took place during the Sunset at Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing on the Saturday. It was the ultimate vibe for a sundowner if you ask me.
I snapped this photo of the Sunset at Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing during that Vusi Mahlasela set and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 27th of August 2012.
Did you also have a moment during Sunset at Oppikoppi 2012 Sweet Thing? Drop me a comment and let me know. I’d like to hear from you.
