The December Streets on stage @ Oppikoppi 2011
On Saturday morning I made my way to the Skellum stage at Oppikoppi Unknown Brother at 10 AM. The first act of the day were The December Streets (a band based in Pretoria). The December Streets won the KFC Sessions 2010 contest and have been gaining popularity over the last year or so. They played at Hatfield Carnival in Hatfield Square earlier this year and got the crowd dancing and singing along to the their tunes. They achieved this as well at Oppikoppi this year. Cover songs are usually frowned upon by regular Oppikoppi goers, but the crowd did not frown at all when The December Streets played their version of the Mumford & Sons tune Little Lion Man. If anyone didn’t know who The December Streets were before the festival, they certainly do now. I snapped this photo of The December Streets performing on Saturday and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 10th of August 2011.
Yesterday a photo featuring Southern Gypsey Queen on stage @ Oppikoppi 2011 was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant. Feel free to check it out. Watch this space for daily updates in the Daily Babe and Daily Cool Photo sections.
