The Top 30 Songs of 2016
There’s no doubt in my mind that 2016 was a very interesting year for music. Sadly Vinyl was cancelled after only one season by HBO, but at least we got an awesome Royal Blood song out of it. Besides this, 2016 also saw the the release of new albums from Pixies, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink 182, Garbage, The Strokes, Jake Bugg, Metallica, Billy Talent, Biffy Clyro, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Wolfmother and various other artists on the international side of things.
On the South African front, things went from strength to strength. Made For Broadway released their debut album. There were also great releases from Southern Wild, The Tazers, Matthew Mole, Shortstraw, New Academics, Albert Frost, Boxer, Sol Gems, Grassy Spark, Hellcats, Crimson House and many others and judging by the quality of the releases, I think it’s safe to say SA Music is alive and well and that things can only get better for SA Music in 2017.
If you’re not convinced that 2016 was a great year for music, just have a listen to our list of the Top 30 Songs for 2016 below. Thanks to Deezer for making this possible.
I seriously can’t single out one track on the list as my favorite, because they’re all extremely pleasing to the eardrums, but I’m curious to know which 2016 song defines the year for you? Leave a comment and let me know in the comment section below.
