2013 has truly been an interesting year for music. This year saw the release of new albums by Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, Pearl Jam, Arctic Monkeys, Van Coke Kartel, Bittereinder, Shortstraw, The Black Cat Bones, Biffy Clyro, Cage The Elephant, Bring Me the Horizon, Foals, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Taxi Violence and other amazing (and not so amazing) artists. Other notable acts that took the world and South Africa by storm this year were Bastille, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, Matthew Mole, Woodstock Mafia and Jake Bugg.
It was great to find out that the human race still has the ability in 2013 to produce great, meaningful and listenable music. SA Music just got better and better this year and I’m suspecting that the standard will be shifting up a notch in 2014. I’m not gonna delve into too much about 2013, all that remains is to list my Top 22 tracks for 2013 below. Click the play button and indulge yourself. And before I forget: Kudos to Deezer for listing so much awesome music on their website.
