On the 24th of March 2012 @BaasDeBeer, @StephanieJMPta and I made our way to Arcade Empire to catch the 2012 MK Awards Afterparty. After watching the absolutely awesome Cape Town based band Mr Cat and the Jackal the Pretoria faithful were treated by the awesomeness that is Pretoria based Non-Zef Afrikaans rap / electro act Bittereinder. These Pretoria boys tore the crowd a new one last year at Oppikoppi Unknown Brother and did not disappoint at this event either.
Bittereinder are definitely one of my favourite acts around at the moment. They just have the ability to get a bored crowd dancing (and I’m sure that many of you reading this who have seen them live will agree with me). Jaco Van Der Merwe, Peach van Pletzen and Louis Minnaar were joined on stage by Tim Beumers (a rapper from Holland who collaborates with them on their song Slechte Mensen). It was awesome seeing these boys move all around the stage. I snapped this close up photo of Jaco Van Der Merwe on the night at Arcade Empire and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 2nd of May 2012.
Yesterday a Close up shot of Werner Olckers @ Vredefest April 2012 was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant, feel free to check it out. On the 24th of March 2012 I made my way to Arcade Empire (in Pretoria East) to catch the MK Awards 2012 After Party. It was a wonderful affair with a jam packed line-up featuring Jack Parow, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Shadowclub, Bittereinder, Mr Cat and the Jackal and Gazelle. Jack Parow was the last artist to perform on the evening.
He played a very energetic set which had the Pretoria faithful bouncing off the proverbial walls. His new single Hosh Tokolosh (which he performed with Gazelle) went down very well with the crowd. Old favorites like Cooler as Ekke and Die Vraagstuk also went down with a bang. It almost seemed that the Pretoria crowd could not get enough of him. It was the first time since Oppikoppi 2010 that I watched Jack Parow perform with his band and I must say that he’s definitely improved since that performance.
Jack Parow has become a household name in South Africa and I’m sure that it will stay that way for a long time. I snapped this photo of Jack Parow on stage at Arcade Empire and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 3rd of April 2012.

On Saturday the 24th of March I made my way to Arcade Empire in Pretoria for the 2012 MK Awards After Party. It was an awesome night of tunes featuring performances by Die Heuwels Fantasties, Mr Cat and the Jackal, Gazelle, Bittereinder, Shadowclub and Jack Parow. One of the highlights on the evening were definitely Johannesburg based MK Awards nominated band Shadowclub. These boys played an excellent set and got the Pretoria crowd rocking out to the max. It was the 3rd time that I’ve seen them perform in 2012 and I’m sure that we’re going to see lots of good musical things from Shadowclub this year. I snapped this photo of Shadowclub performing at Arcade Empire for the MK Awards 2012 After Party and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 2nd of April 2012.
