Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria (in Eastern Europe). More than 1.4 million people live in Sofia today. Sofia was originally a Thracian settlement called Serdica, or Sardica, possibly named after the Celtic tribe Serdi. For a short period during the 4th century BC, the city was ruled by Philip of Macedon and his son Alexander the Great. The city was conquered by the Romans in 29 BC. The city was destroyed by the Huns in 447 but was rebuilt by Justinian and for a while called Triaditsa or Sredets by the slavonic tribes. This photo of the city’s skyline has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 18th of October 2010.

in Babes, Daily Babe

Nina Dobrev was born in 1989 in Bulgaria. She’s lived in Canada since she was 2 years old though, when her parents moved there. She is an up and coming actress. She has landed a role in the upcoming series, The Vampire Diaries. Definately one of the most beautiful brunettes out there. She is worthy of being featured on this blog as the Daily Babe for the 24th of August 2009.
