When it comes to alcohol usage I have to admit that I over indulge from time to time. Let me get this out there: I’m not an alcoholic. I just love having a good time (which usually involves more shooters than your average person can handle). I also don’t get behind the wheel, I take a taxi home when I’ve had one too many. And like most of you reading this, I really hate getting hang overs. Maybe you and I should try Theodora Lee’s Drink Smart tips.
Theodora Lee has built up quite an online following. This Cape Town native has more than 22,000 followers on Twitter (on her @Theodora_Lee account) and more than 54,000 subscribers on her YouTube account. She also has a blog entitled Love from, Theo. Pretty impressive for a South African if you ask me. She is also quite witty and outspoken in her videos. Check out her video entitled “Drink Smart” below and you’ll see what I mean.
These “Drink Smart” tips are pretty awesome, but I won’t be calling my dad to pick me up though, I’m a grown man. Thanks Theodora Lee. I should really learn to drink more water between my drinks when I’m out. I’m going to give this a try because I’m really tired of hang overs. What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know.

Great News! Earlier today Big Concerts announced that Dave Matthews Band would be touring South Africa later this year. The band will be playing at the Grand West Arena in Cape Town on the 30th of November and at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on the 3rd of December.
I first discovered Dave Matthews Band in the mid 1990′s (thanks to my good friend Ian). They’re one of my favorite bands of all time and definitely on my top 10 list of acts that I want to see live before I kick the bucket – finally I have that chance.
Following the announcement this morning South Africans went berserk on Twitter and Facebook and because word of this spread so fast, all the Golden Circle tickets for both shows have been sold out already. Limited tickets are still available for both the Cape Town and Johannesburg shows via the Big Concerts website though, so move your music loving arse if you want to see them live.
Dave Matthews was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1967. His family moved to the USA when he was only 2 years old, but came back to South Africa in 1977. After he graduated at St Stithians College in 1985 he left South Africa to avoid conscription. He worked at IBM in New York for a while before eventually joining his mom in Charlottesville, Virginia. He had already started playing guitar when he was 9 years old and people urged him to record and perform his own music. Eventually the Dave Matthews Band were formed in 1991.
Dave Matthews Band have released 8 studio albums and 18 live albums since 1993. Their music has elements of rock, jazz fusion, folk rock, bluegrass, funk rock, world music, alternative rock and country rock. The band have sold more than 30 million records worldwide. The current members of the band are Dave Matthews, Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard, Boyd Tinsley, Jeff Coffin, Rashawn Ross and Tim Reynolds. Former members include LeRoi Moore (who was a founding member of the band and died in 2008), Peter Griesar and Butch Taylor.
The band is one of the hardest working acts in the world have played some of the biggest venues on planet earth. In 2010 alone Dave Matthews Band played 92 shows on various tours. In 1999 they played in front of 400,000 people at Woodstock. They also done massive shows at Giants Stadium, Red Rocks and Central Park. Just take a listen to their song, “Two Step” to give you an idea of how awesome they are when it comes to performing live
I’m glad that Big Concerts finally secured this awesome act. Let’s hope Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters hear about Dave Matthews Band’s awesome live show experiences in South Africa and get their rocking butts here before you can say “Plane”.

It feels like I attended the 5 Gum Experience in Johannesburg yesterday, but it was in fact more than 3 weeks ago already. Despite the transport hiccups, it was one of the most awesome experiences I’ve had so far in 2013.
Seeing The Kooks, The Stellas and Shortstraw live under the M2 motorway and experiencing the awesome vibe that a crowd of 5,000 people creates (despite getting sopping wet) was a unique experience. I get flash blacks to that awesome night now and then and I’m hoping that the next 5 Gum Experience is also going to rock my socks off.
This video was produced We-are-awesome Film. Additional Cameras were handled by Hanro Havenga and Kevin Schnider,
Sound Design was handled by Gerdus Oosthuizen and Music in the video comes to from the Kooks and Shortstraw. This clip is pretty damn awesome – a brilliant piece of video.
Now I really wish that the next 5 Gum Experience comes along quickly. Hopefully all of us won’t get wet this time around.
