Game of Thrones Season 3 is currently showing on television in the USA. The show (which is based on the “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series by George R.R. Martin) made its debut in 2011 and has become one of the most popular shows on television.

Game of Thrones has a whole bunch of hot female cast members. That totally gives the show bragging rights (and I’m pretty sure that many of you reading this article will agree with me). Today I’m featuring 5 Sizzling Hot Babes who have made their appearance on Game of Thrones at some point to show you why. If you’re reading this at the office, try not to drool on the keyboard.

Emilia Clarke: In the series she plays exiled princess Daenerys Targaryen who is one of the last surviving members of House Targaryen (the former rulers of Westeros). She’s the only daughter of King Aerys II Targaryen and she married Kahl Drogo and became Khaleesi (Queen) of his tribe (the Dothraki).

Definitely one of the most strong-willed women and one of best-developed characters on Game of Thrones in my opinion. Before the show she appeared in episodes of Triassic Attack and Doctors on television. She’s also appeared in two films in 2012 (Spike Island and Shackled). Early this year she also voiced a character on an episode of Futurama and appeared in a stage production of Breakfast At Tiffany’s at the Cort Theatre in New York City. This 26 year old actress has a bright future ahead of her. I’m pretty sure that we’ll see her in many films and TV shows in the future.  You can follow Emilia Clarke on Twitter via @_millyclarke_.

Natalie Dormer: In the series she plays the beautiful, smart and cunning Margaery Tyrell. She becomes part of a plan to take the Iron Throne from King Joffrey (a mission that involves marrying Renly Baratheon, the brother of the late King Robert).

This 31 year old actress (who hails from Berkshire, England in the UK) made her acting debut in the 2005 film Casanova. She’s also appeared in the 2007 film Flawless, the 2009 film City of Life, the 2011 film Captain America: The First Avenger and the 2013 film Rubicon. Besides this she’s also appeared in various TV shows including The Tudors, Rebus and Elementary.

She’s also done her fair share of acting on the stage in London. Her role in Game of Thrones may not be that massive, but she’s still one of the hottest women on the show.

Roxanne McKee: In the series she plays the recurring character Doreah (who is a former prostitute who works as a sexy servant to Daenerys Targaryen). She is tasked with teaching Daenerys how to best satisfy her husband sexually.

Roxanne McKee was born in 1980 in Canada. She has appeared in episodes of Eastenders: E20 and Hollyoaks on television in the UK. She has also appeared in a few music videos and in two films in 2012 (Lewis and Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines). She’s definitely one of the hottest women on Game of Thrones. You can follow her on Twitter via @Roxanne_Mckee.

Lena Headey: In the series she is Cersei Lannister (the wife to King Robert Baratheon and the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms). She’s also the twin sister of Jaime Lannister and has an incestuous relationship with her brother which creates three children.

This 39 year old actress was born in Bermuda and made her acting debut in 1993 (when she appeared in four different TV shows and one movie). She has appeared in tons of films over the years since then, including the 2005 movie The Brother’s Grimm, the 2007 film 300 and the 2012 film Dredd. She is also cast in the upcoming sequel to 300 (which is entitled 300: Rise of An Empire). Besides Game of Thrones, Lena has also appeared in a long of TV shows and made for TV films over the years including Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and White Collar. You can follow her on Twitter via @IAMLenaHeadey.

Sibel Kekilli: In the show she plays Shae, a young prostitute serving Tyrion Lannister. Tyrion initially confines Shae but later makes her the handmaiden to Sansa.

Sibel Kekilli was born in 1980 in Germany. She made her acting debut in 2003 and has appeared in numerous German language films since then. She has won two Lola Awards for her achievements in acting (the highest achievement for acting in Germany).

2012 has been an interesting year. This year has seen it’s highs and lows. Photography is one of the best methods to tell a story and to record history. I’ve decided do this by showcasing 2012 in Pictures today. I’ve decided to showcase 1 photo per month.

January 2012: The Northern Lights made their appearance over Northern Europe during this month. Astrophotographer Antti Pietikainen took this photo on the 24th of this month in Muonio, Lapland, Finland. I still have to see this for myself one day. Maybe I’ll take a trip to Scandinavia (if the world doesn’t end on the 21st of December).

February 2012: During this month I made my way to the Up the Creek festival near Swellendam in the Western Cape. It was 3.5 days of fun in the sun and one of the best music festivals that I’ve ever been to. The line-up and the vibe was absolutely awesome. I am thinking of and hoping to attend Up The Creek at the end of January 2013. If you haven’t been there, you should check it out.

March 2012: RAMFest 2012 happened in this month. Unfortunately I could not make it to RAMFest 2012 Cape Town this year, but I did attend the Johannesburg. The line-up on the day was absolutely amazing. One of the highlights of RAMFest 2012 was definitely the performance Swedish Metal band In Flames. I’m really looking forward to RAMFest 2013 (which will feature Rise Against as one of the international headliners).

April 2012: In this photo below a spectacular cloudy sky is pictured above an Allgaeu landscape near Geislatsried, Germany on the 10th of April. Southern Bavaria enjoyed typical unsettled April weather with a mix of clouds, rains and sunshine. This is one bloody stunning photo if you ask me. Nature is truly amazing.

May 2012: This month marks the start of the winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Cape Town based photographer Anelia Loubser took this photo on the 8th of this month. It has been featured on this blog before, but it’s stunning enough to feature for this 2012 in Pictures album.

June 2012: Hong Kong is buzzling metropolis with a population of more than 7 million people. It has been part of mainland China since 1997. This photo was taken on the 19th of June 2012 and features a rainbow over Hong Kong harbor.

July 2012: The opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics took place on the 27th of July 2012 at the Olympic stadium. More than 10,000 athletes from 204 Olympic Committee’s participated in this year’s games. This photo was taken during the opening ceremony.

August 2012: It was time for Oppikoppi number 14 for me this month. More than 18,000 people made their way to the farm outside Northam in Limpopo province to attend South Africa’s premier music festival. More than 100 acts (including 4 international headliners) performed at the festival. I’m already looking forward to Oppikoppi 2013.

September 2012: The 11th of this month marked the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City in 2001. In this photo Frances Mercado places a flower on the etched name of her late sister, Myrna T. Maldonado-Agosto, at the North Pool during ceremonies held this year. I can’t believe it has been 11 years since these dreadful attacks on the USA.

October 2012: Hurricane Sandy struck the USA’s Eastern seaboard and parts of the Caribbean in late October. The hurricane caused more than $56 billion damage and killed more than 250 people in 7 countries. In this photo two boys run down Foster Avenue while dodging high winds and waves from the effects of Hurricane Sandy in Marshfield, Massachusetts on the 29th of October.

November 2012: Kuwait gained independence from the UK in 1961. The country’s capital is Kuwait City. On the 10th of November 2012 there was an hour long fireworks display was held to commemorate Constitution Day. The $14 million spectacle competed for a place in the Guinness Book of Records. It must have been quite a spectacle (judging by the photo below).

December 2012: Winter is full swing in the Northern Hemisphere. It looks like its going to be a white Christmas there for most countries. In this photo two girls play in the snow on the bank of an island in the middle of the Yenisei River. The air temperature reached minus 22 degrees Celsius in nearby Krasnoyarsk (which is located in Siberia, Russia) on the 6th of this month. Suddenly I’m glad I live in South Africa.

Tenacious D Tenacious D Tribute (Live at Rock Am Ring 2012)I have to admit, I’ve always been a fan of Tenacious D. Jack Black and Kyle Glass have been entertaining me with their unique blend of Rock since 2001. I am especially fond of their song “Tribute” (which also happens to be the Aandklas Hatfield anthem and has had numerous folks dancing on tables).

Fact is, Tenacious D has actually been around since 1991. The band actually had their own TV show on HBO in the USA from 1997 to 2000 (before they released their debut album). To date Tenacious D have released 3 albums: their self-titled debut album (in 2001), The Pick of Destiny (in 2006) and The Rize of Fenix (in 2012).

Besides Kyle and Jack Tenacious D also has plenty of session and touring musos who play for them. In case you did not know, Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters is on that list. Tenacious D have also been doing the festival circuit in Europe this year (which is actually something I want to do before I am 40).

The Rock Am Ring Festival was held in Germany at the Nürburgring racetrack again this year. Tenacious D was one of the bands that performed at the festival. Other bands on the line-up for Rock Am Ring and Rock Am Park (which was held on the same weekend in the South of Germany) for 2012 included As I Lay Dying, Anthrax, Awolnation, Billy Talent, Enter Shikari, Evanescence, Guano Apes, Kasabian, Keane, Korn, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Linkin Park, Machine Head, The Prodigy, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, MIA, Motörhead, The Offspring, Skrillex, Soundgarden, The Subways and others. To be honest, seeing line-ups like these makes me want to check out an international festival in 2013. Maybe I should make it happen.

I found this video on YouTube featuring Tenacious D playing Tribute live at Rock Am Ring 2012 in Germany, check it out below:

I am pretty sure that many Aandklas Hatfield regulars (and other Tenacious D fans) will appreciate this video. I would not mind seeing these boys live in South Africa. If they do decide to come here, it would be totally awesome if they could play in Aandklas Hatfield. If Jack and Kyle are reading this post: “You don’t know how much people love your song in that place, you have to experience it”.
