Hanglip is the mountain at which foot Louis Trichardt was founded in 1899. The mountain is part of the Soutpansberg mountain range. Hanglip is a prominent landmark that can be seen as one approaches the town on the N1 road from Polokwane. I lived in the town for 18 years but never went up to the top of the mountain. I had this opportunity recently though and was able to snap a photo of the Aerial View of Louis Trichardt from Hanglip. 2 days ago my brother, his girlfriend and I took a trip into the Soutpansberg mountains above my old home town of Louis Trichardt (in the Limpopo province of South Africa). We went up Hanglip (the mountain at which foot the town was established). It was my first time ever on top of Hanglip (even though I lived in Louis Trichardt for 18 years). Hanglip stands 1719 metres above sea level (which is quite high). I snapped this photo of the town below while we were on top of the mountain. In the early hours of a February morning in 1977 I was born in the hospital in Louis Trichardt (in the Limpopo province of South Africa). I grew up in this little town and lived here for a total of 18 years. I moved to Pretoria in 1996 and have practically been a Gautenger since then (although I did return to Louis Trichardt in 1998 to work for a year). Yesterday I arrived in Louis Trichardt for the first time in 2 years to visit my family. Today my brother and I took a drive into the Soutpansberg to visit some old spots I had not visited in some time. I also discovered a few new spots I had not been to. Our first stop was Mountain Inn (about 10 km outside the town). One has a pretty decent view of Louis Trichardt from the Mountain Inn restaurant deck.
