A few weeks ago I made my way to Mokha Rock Lounge (near the National Botanical Gardens in Pretoria) to catch 7 Stukke Silwer, My Epic and Dance You’re On Fire performing live. Dance You’re On Fire impressed me the most on the night. The band has been getting quite a bit of exposure in South Africa and they’re definitely one of the bands to watch in 2011. I first saw them performing at Oppikoppi. Sexy. Crooked. Teeth. last year. If they are playing a gig in your area, go check them out live. A few weeks ago I went to Mokha Rock Lounge (one of the coolest venues for live shows) in Pretoria. The Pretoria faithful were entertained on the night by Mr Cat and the Jackal and aKING. Both acts hail from the Western Cape (in case some of you did not know). After Mr Cat and the Jackal got the party started the audience were blown away by a performance by aKING. The Bellville rockers pulled off an excellent show besides the fact that they played their set without their drummer, Jaco “Snake” Venter. The crowd were singing along to most of their songs. On Thursday night last week I made my way to the Pretoria leg of the 2011 aKING and Mr Cat & The Jackal tour at Mokha Rock Lounge (near the National Botanical Gardens). This venue is turning into one of Pretoria’s favorite nightspots in record time. Both Mr Cat and the Jackal and aKING played excellent sets and did not leave the Pretoria faithful disappointed. Kudos to Mokha Rock Lounge for the cheap booze (especially during their 5-7 PM happy hour) and the good food. And kudos to aKING and Mr Cat and the Jackal for making the evening something to remember.
