Trains at the Gautrain depot in Midrand
In early December 2010 I had the privilege of attending the ceremony to celebrate the arrival of the 96th and last Gautrain carriage at the Gautrain depot in Midrand. Various members of the press were present at the ceremony. I also bumped into @KeenyKeenz, @TarrynHarbour and @TheGautrain at the event. We were part of the first group of passengers that were allowed to travel on the finished section of track between the Gautrain depot and the Midrand Gautrain station (near Grand Central Airport). We were exposed to the “new train” smell and a smooth ride on the brand new train. I was absolutely impressed with this marvel of modern engineering. I can’t wait till the Gautrain is finally operational between Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand, Sandton and OR Tambo International. It’s going to have a huge impact on Gauteng province. I snapped this photo of the trains at the Gautrain depot in Midrand on the day of the ceremony. It has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 30th of December 2010.
Yesterday a photo featuring a View from the stand at Supersport Park was the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant.
