What is RSS?

RSS is an abbreviation for Real Simple Syndication and Rich Site Summary. It’s a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites, news-oriented community sites and personal blogs. It’s not for news only. About anything on the web can be broken down into items and can be syndicated via RSS. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS reader / program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way. RSS readers / programs are popular in the blogging community. Many blogs make content available in RSS. It helps readers to keep up with all their favorite blogs by checking the RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them in a reader or sending you updates via e-mail if you the e-mail subscription option exists.

I prefer getting notifications via e-mail when a site I visit regularly has been updated, but I also use Google Reader for RSS feeds who do not have an option for subscribing via e-mail, because it’s quite convenient to log in with my Google Mail account.

So, if you like reading this blog and you want to receive updates via e-mail, please type in your e-mail address in the box in the left hand corner of my blog. If you want to subscribe via another reader, please click on the link below.
