Mieliepop 2017 is happening from the 17th of March to the 21st of March and promises to be one of the must-attend festivals of the year. The festival takes place at Tolderia Resort near Lothair (50 km from Ermelo) in Mpumalanga.
The line-up is one of the craziest South Africa music festival line-ups that I’ve seen in recent times. It’s even crazier than last year’s amazing Mieliepop line-up which left many South African music lovers and festival junkies with smiles on their faces before, during and after that particular festival.
This year’s line-up is awesome because it reads like an Encyclopaedia of SA Music in 2016/2017:
Adelle Nqeto, ANG, Bad Peter, Barbosa Experience, BCUC, Ben Dey & the Concrete Lions, Benson, Bhashkar, Black Math, Boargazm, Bobbejaan DJs, Bye Beneco, Crimson House, Desmond & the Tutus, DJ Legend, Dogstarr, Haezer, Half ‘n Half, Hellcats, Hello Beautiful, Hot Water (Duo), Ella G, Embassy, Fabio, Femi Koya, Freecaps & Teeshirtz, Fuzigish, Gerald Clark, G-Force, Grassy Spark, Greg Georgiades & Ultra Natives, Johnny Cradle, Jol Stransky, Jonathan Peyper, Kallisto, Late Night Fox, Lil Bow, Luma, Majozi, Medicine Boy, Menticide, Miagii, Michael Canfield, Michael Lesar, Morrison Taylor, Mouse, Mr Green, Naming James, New Academics, Night Vision, PHFat, PopArtLive, Retro Dizzy, Rudeboyz, Rudeone, Shortstraw, Sound Sensible, Tidal Waves, The Dandies, The Dead Trends, The Deathrettes, The Lectric Monks, The Oh So Serious, The Tazers, The T’s & C’s, Thor Rixon, Urban Village, Vasco Bromada, We Are Charlie, Yo Grapes & Zolabudde.
Mieliepop has changed quite a bit since it was first held in 2011, but I have to say that it has always been one of the festivals that I look forward to on the South Africa music festival calendar annually. It’s a mixture of the breath taking venue, the amazing line-ups, the chilled-out festival vibe and the rave cave just makes me want to go back to Mieliepop every single year (and if you’ve been there before, you’ll totally agree with me).
