Great News Beer Lovers! On Saturday the 13th of June 2015 the third annual installment of the Capital Craft Beer Festival, Pretoria’s premium beer festival will be held at the Voortrekker Monument.
Capital Craft brings together old traditions and new experiences. This beer festival combines the age-old tradition of drinking beer with new and exciting musical acts and introduces you to a vast variety of local micro-manufactured brews. Micro-breweries have fast become the tasty and trendy alternative to commercially brewed beers. The painstaking efforts taken to brew and mature these specialist beers can be tasted with each sip.
At this year’s edition of Capital Craft, you will be able to sample beers by over 25 different micro brewers from all over the country. Having attended the two previous editions of this event I can definitely guarantee you that this is going to be a well-executed and unforgettable experience and that you should not miss out. This year is going to be bigger and better: there will be 3 live music stages and a Let’s Talk Beer stage and room for 6,000 people (1,000 more than in 2014).
So far the following brewers have been confirmed for 2015: Brewhogs, SMACK! Republic Brewing Company, Jack Black, Standeaven Brewery, Draymans Brewery, Clarens Brewery and Cockpit Brewhouse
So far the following music acts have been confirmed for this year: The Oh So Serious, Float Parade, Georgetown, The Runaway Train Cult, The Black Cat Bones, The Fake Leather Blues Band and Sea of Green.
Take note that the Voortrekker Monument charges R15 per car for parking. Please take along picnic blankets or camping chairs to sit on, no cooler boxes will be allowed at the event. At the gate you will get your ticket scanned, you will get an arm-tag and after that you will walk through the gate and be handed a mug and site map containing all the info of where to find the brewers and toilets.
Just like the two previous years, Capital Craft 2015 will again be using a token system. There will be card machines at the token stand but please try bringing cash (cash = not waiting for a debit transactions to clear on your credit or debit card). If you really need to draw cash, there are ATM machines at the Voortrekker Monument (but it’s quite a walk up that hill). There will be an off sales area near the entrance where you can purchase bottles to take home.
Sounds like a fun, right? Tickets can be bought for R120 on the Capital Craft website. Tickets at the gate will be priced @ R150. Tokens can also be purchased on the website (and will be handed to you when you enter the gate). No under 18’s are allowed and right of admission is reserved.
