Great News! The Johannesburg leg of the Blood Brothers tour is happening this weekend at the Big Top Arena at Carnival City and it promises to be one of the most awesome musical experiences of the year.
Ten of South Africa’s top rock musicians will be putting on 3 hour show to fight cancer. They’ll be playing the songs that made them famous as well as songs by international bands who have influenced their sound. They will be doing this in association with the Vrede Foundation (an initiative that aims to educate young people about cancer).
To refresh your memory, here’s the list of musicians who are participating in Blood Brothers:
Jason Hinch (The Black Cat Bones, Boargazm and the Jonathan Peyper band), Albert Frost, Rian Zietsman (Taxi Violence & BEAST), Francois van Coke (Fokofpolisiekar & Van Coke Kartel), Arno Carstens (Springbok Nude Girls), George van der Spuy (Taxi Violence & Goodnight Wembley), Kobus de Kock Jr (The Black Cat Bones), Hunter Kennedy (Fokofpolisiekar & Die Heuwels Fantasties), Loedi van Reenen (Taxi Violence) and Isaac Klawansky (Shadowclub).
People living in the Mother City should take note that the Cape Town leg of Blood Brothers will be taking place at Grand West Casino on the 23rd of September. Tickets for the Cape Town show are available on Web Tickets.
I had the privilege to chat to a few of the Blood Brothers and this what they had to say about the tour:
“I get to perform my favorite South African song, Ek Skyn (Heilig), with both the guy who sings it and the guy who wrote it. This is definitely going to be right up there with the greatest highlights of my musical career thus far.” Loedi van Reenen
“I cannot wait to perform some of my favourite music with some of my favourite musicians. I am a huge fan of collaborations, and this is a perfect opportunity to do plenty of that.” Rian Zietsman
“This is going to be a great and monumental show. We’ve all known each other for years but It’s the first time we’ve all been smashed together and the bonus is its for the greatest cause! Collaborations are always cool and unique and this one is the grand slam of colabs.” Albert Frost
Just reading these quotes from Albert, Rian and Loedi is getting me very excited and if that did not get you excited, this announcement should: Running Wolf’s Rant is giving away two double tickets to Saturday night’s Blood Brothers show at Carnival City.
