Today I’m featuring a Classic Volkswagen Volksiebus Advert. It was released in the 1980s or 1990s. I can’t really remember to be honest.
Volkswagen is one of the top-selling vehicle brands in South Africa. South African Singer / Songwriter David Kramer appears in the advert. He appeared in a few adverts for the brands back in those days.
It’s also one of those adverts that most South Africans my age will remember from their childhood. They just don’t make adverts like this anymore.
In case you did not know, the first Volkswagen Beetle was produced in Uitenhage, South Africa in August 1951. This means that VW has been doing business in our country for more than 60 years. Since 1951, they’re produced over 2.8 million vehicles. VW has also been awarded numerous export orders by its parent company and won a number of local and international awards.
Over the years, the Volkswagen Brand has won six consecutive rally championships, three Dakar rallies, put the first Black rally champion on the podium and won the South African Car of the Year award two years in a row.
