So, the Oscar Pistorius trial has resumed today and everyone on Facebook and Twitter is trying to be legal experts or voice their opinions. Sheople are watching the trial on DSTV or via online streaming and are keeping their eyes and ears glued on the happenings in the courtroom.
Examples of questions being asked by everyone at the moment are “Did Oscar Pistorius kill Reeva Steenkamp?”, “Did he shoot her three or four times through a bathroom door on purpose on in self-defense?”, “Are there adequate people translating at the trial?”, “Which witness is going to testify next?” or “Which one of these hashtags will be trending today? #OscarPistorius, #OscarTrail or #OscarGuilty?”
The truth is, no one really knows what happened that night except Oscar Pistorius and the media is labeling it “the trial of the century” because they want to sell newspapers and they want you to visit their websites. Yes, it’s topical, yes, it’s going down right now, but it’s over-hyped. This “news story” is keeping your attention away from what’s really going on the world, so don’t get sucked into it.
In other news: Russia invaded the Ukraine yesterday and some analysts are saying that this could spark World War 3, it’s World Wildlife Day today and RAMFest is only 3 days away. So, this is my response to one of the most common questions about the Oscar Pistorius trial:
I really don’t give a rat’s arse about the Oscar Pistorius trial, and neither should you.
