Living in Gauteng? Need to get your live music fix? Well, great news is that Nokia Rise & Shine Festival will return to Sandton Central Park on the 23rd of August 2014 (next week Saturday) and promises to be one of the musical highlights of the year.
Gates open bright and early at 8 AM. There will be a Yoga session on the lawn at 9 AM, before the full day of good music, lekker food, nature and friends starts. Delicious cuisine will be provided by a number of high-end vendors sourced from the top food & design markets.
This edition of Nokia Rise & Shine Festival will feature some of the best artists that SA Music has to offer. Expect appearances by Al Bairre, Shortstraw (a band that has been making waves in the SA Music industry over the last few years), Zebra & Giraffe (who recently celebrated 6 years in the SA Music industry), Matthew Mole (MK Award nominee and winner of 2012 Converse Get Out of the Garage), Float Parade, Nakhane Toure, Death by Misadventure and Runaway Train Cult.
In case you did not know, Sandton Central Park is located on the corner of Grayston & Sandton Drives. The entrance to the park is on 5th Street – a short 2 km Tuk-Tuk ride from Sandton’s Gautrain Station (a great eco-friendly way to arrive). Parking is available at Nelson Mandela Square or at Sandton City for a flat fee of R10 for the day. Nokia Rise & Shine, in association with Johannesburg City Parks, plant 1 tree for every 50 people who attend the event. The event has raised 227 trees since its inception, resulting in a Green Footprint.
Early bird tickets have already sold out! Online pre-sale tickets cost R150 or R250 (if you want the organizers to plant a tree on your behalf) and tickets at the gate cost R200. Children under 12 are welcome free of charge (providing that they are accompanied by an adult) and no 13 – 18 year olds are allowed. Tickets can be bought via the Nokia Rise & Shine Festival website. Take note that no food or drinks allowed through the gates.
