Great news music fans! The second edition of Rise & Shine Festival will be held on the 22nd of August. This edition of Johannesburg’s most awesome chilled out one day festival will feature an awesome line-up and will be held at it’s usual venue: Sandton Central Park.
If you have not attended Rise & Shine Festival before take note: Sandton Central Park is located on the corner of Sandton and Grayston Drive. It’s less than 1.5 km from the Sandton Gautrain Station, so you take a brisk downhill walk or hop on a tuk tuk to get to the venue. If you live in Johannesburg, you can park your car at Sandton City (which is less than a km away). Parking costs R10 for the whole day. I recommend a tuk tuk ride up the hill on your way back (unless you are built like Usain Bolt).
The 22 August edition of Rise & Shine Festival will feature performances by Sutherland, The Urban Village, Float Parade, Bye Beneco, Boo!, Go Barefoot, Mr. Cat & the Jackal and New Academics.
Seeing Mr. Cat and The Jackal (who is one of the top live acts in the country in my opinion), Boo! (who doesn’t play that many gigs nowadays and who is brilliant live) and New Academics (who always blows away audiences with stellar live performances) on the line-up should be reason enough for getting your tickets NOW!
Rise & Shine Festival is presented in association with Obikwa Wines & Johannesburg City Parks. Gates open bright and early at 8 AM. A light Yoga session will be hosted on the lawn at 9 AM before a full day of music, food, nature and friends commences.
Delicious cuisine will be provided by a number of high-end food stalls curated from the top food & design markets.
A fully stocked bar will be available to keep festival-goers hydrated and refreshed throughout the day and will include a variety of craft beer options, an Obikwa Wine Bar, a cordial bar and fresh coconuts.
Rise & Shine Festival would like to welcome their new eco-partner Green Beings to their festive family. With Green Beings they will plant 1 tree for every 50 people who attend the event as well as initiating various other sustainability practices in Cosmo City. The festival has raised over 300 trees since its inception, resulting in a Green Footprint.
Take note: Children under 12 are welcome free of charge accompanied by an adult, no 13 – 17 year olds are allowed and no food or drinks are allowed through the gates.
Limited Early-bird online tickets cost R120 and if they sell out, tickets will cost R180 online. Green Tickets (which includes a tree planted on your behalf) cost R250 online (but 100 limited Green Tickets are available online @ R200). Tickets at the gate will cost R220. Online tickets are available on the Nu Tickets website.
I’m really looking forward to this edition of Rise & Shine Festival and I hope to see you there.
