Yesterday I made my way to Mokha Rock Lounge after work to catch aKING and Mr Cat and the Jackal performing. This gig was part of their 4 gig tour to venues in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Potchefstroom and Bloemfontein. Mr Cat and The Jackal were up first and got the Pretoria faithful into a jovial mood last night and set the stage for aKING. Some people ask me if I ever get bored of watching the same bands, the truth is: I don’t. This was the 4th time that I saw both aKING and Mr Cat and the Jackal perform in 2011 and it wasn’t boring at all. aKING played an excellent acoustic set. Jaco “Snakehead” Venter was not on drums, he injured his arm earlier in the week. Running Wolf’s Rant would like to wish him a speedy recovery. The Pretoria crowd loved every second of their performance and were singing along to songs like Safe as Houses, You and I and others with a lot of enthusiasm. Mokha Rock Lounge definitely has the potential to become one of the capital city’s best live music venues (in my opinion). If you have a chance, get your butt down there and Rock Out, Pretoria style! I snapped this photo of aKING on stage last night and it has been selected as the Daily Cool Photo on Running Wolf’s Rant for the 20th of May 2011.
