An Interview with a representative of Alpha True Craft

Alpha True Craft is one of the brewers who will be selling their brews at the next edition of the Capital Craft Beer Festival (which is happening this weekend).

I had a chat to one of the representatives of this brewery (which is based in Cape Town). This is what they had to say:

Where does the name “Alpha True Craft” come from?

All ciders are not created equal. Most mass market products are made using apple concentrate. Alpha Dry and Alpha Ginger have moved beyond the norm to bring customers a True Craft Cider. Alpha ciders are made from fresh pressed Fuji, Golden Delicious, Cripps Pink and Granny Smith apple juice from Elgin in the Western Cape. We want people to know that they don’t have to settle for products made from concentrates. Alpha True Craft means a step above the status quo.

What do you like the most about beer?

The variety! There are so many breweries around the world making their interpretation of dozens of styles of beer. The possibilities are endless, and the craft beer movement has shown the beer-drinking public just that.

What makes your brews different from other brewers’ beers?

The quality of ingredients. We only used fresh pressed apple juice for our ciders and only world-class hops and malts for our beers. No corner cutting. No funny business. Just true craft!

What is your favourite quote about beer?

“You can’t be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.” Frank Zappa

What is your favorite drinking song?

Tough one . . . but I’ll go with George Thorogood’s “One bourbon, one scotch, one beer.”

What can we expect from you at Capital Craft 2018?

Delicious ciders and beers made with passion, quality and attention to detail! If you haven’t tried our Ginger Cider, now is the time!

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you at a beer festival?

Putting a coupler on a keg without connecting the “beer out” line. Whoooops! Beer geyser.

I’d like to thank Alpha True Craft for this interview and I wish them all of the best with this weekend’s beer festival. If you don’t have your Capital Craft Beer Festival tickets yet, get them here.
