Chris Taylor is one of the DJs who will be spinning tunes at Tremor Fest at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria on the 18th of August 2018.

I recently had a chat to him about this and a few other things. This is what he had to say:

If you could describe the level of excitement you have for Tremor Fest, how would you do it in detail?

I think Tremor Fest is great because it’s going against the grain and pushing high energy music, I feel that deep house and techno is all anyone listens to these days because it’s “cool” and it’s going to be great to perform at an event where I’m not the only person playing anything above 120 BPM.

What are your thoughts on the current state of the SA Electro scene?

I believe that EDM and electro is what people actually want to listen to, it’s happy music, it makes you feel good when you listen to it and I think that unfortunately over the past two or three years the genre has suffered because it was overplayed and people got bored and wanted something new, I do feel that electro/EDM/progressive house will re-surface in the next year or two.

What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you during a set?

I don’t know about funny but I’ve had lots of embarrassing experiences with faulty equipment hahaha!

What is the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to your during a set?

I’ve seen some really strange dancing, people running up and down from one end of the club to the other.

If you could collab with a South African Musician, who would you colab with and why?

I would love to get into the studio with Goldfish, simply because our styles are very different and they are very talented musicians who I feel I could learn a lot from.

What can we expect from your set at Tremor Fest?

Big drops, loads of mashups, high energy and lots of interaction with the crowd.

I would like to thank Chris Taylor for this interview and I wish him all of the best with his set at Tremor Fest on the 18th of August 2018.
