An interview with Riaan from Crimson House

Crimson House are another one of the acts who will be performing on the Mojo Rising Blues Cruise in March 2019. Besides them cruise passengers can also look forward to performances by Albert Frost, The Black Cat Bones and others.

I recently had a chat to Riaan from Crimson House about the Mojo Rising Blues Cruise and a few other things. This is what he had to say:

When you think of the term “Blues Cruise” what comes creatively comes to mind?

Cruising on the seas listening to fine music with fine people!

What is Crimson House currently working on?

Crimson House are hard at work in studio on our latest album.

    Crimson House

What is your favorite blues tune to cruise to and why?

All of em haha, but Rolling & Tumblin.

In your opinion, who are the five best Blues musicians of all time and why?

Muddy waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Son House, Big Mam Thorton, John Lee Hooker and Sister Roseta Tharpe, because no one can top their souls.

How do you embrace your inner blues fan?

I pick up a guitar and lose my mind.

What can we expect fro Crimson House on the Blues Cruise?

    All the madness.

I’d like to thank Riaan and Crimson House for this interview and I wish them all of the best with the Mojo Rising Blues Cruise and their future musical endeavors.

Today it was announced that Canadian Blues stalwart Doc Maclean will also be part of the Mojo Rising Blues Cruise. He’s a weathered storyteller and performer known to be writing from the dark side of the Blues highway.

    Mojo Rising Blues Cruise

Maclean’s distinctive vocals and bare fingers on guitar plot an intense and emotional remapping of contemporary Delta Blues and roots music. Blues Revue Magazine has called him the ‘Prince of Darkness’ and there’s redemption in his music beyond the simple, acoustic medium; an appeal that reaches well beyond crossroads.

He sings his own stories and tells his own songs in his own voice. His mostly resophonic, finger style slide guitar pays sonic homage to Patton, House, and Big Joe Williams, in a roots based, yet contemporary context.

The Mojo Rising Blues Cruise will be setting sail on a 4 day, carefree voyage to the Portuguese Islands. All the luxury resort leisure facilities on board are included free of charge.

The cruise is happening from the 22nd to the 25th of March 2019. Tickets start at R5735 and kids under 18 can sail for free! Book now to avoid disappointment.
