Angus & Julia Stone South African Tour Details:
Cape Town fans will be the first to see Angus & Julia Stone live in the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on Thursday 25 January. Thereafter Johannesburg will look forward to their favourite Gourmet Food And Music Festival hosting Angus & Julia Stone at the 7th annual Parklife Festival at Marks Park in Emmarentia on Saturday 27 January.
Concluding the tour with a performance set in the oldest surviving botanic garden on the African continent, Angus & Julia Stone will take to the stage in Durban for the 2nd annual Parklife Festival at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday 28 January. Parklife Festival returns to Durban following the success of the inaugural event drawing thousands of Durbanites to the Gourmet Food And Music Festival in June 2017.
Alice Phoebe Lou is also the first of many SA acts to be announced for the Parklife Festival line-up and makes her debut at Parklife in Johannesburg and Durban in January. Alice Phoebe Lou’s fiercely independent approach to her music has given the singer songwriter a creative confidence that shines through in her captivating vocals and stripped back music. Having developed her bluesy, folk sound busking on the streets of Berlin, Alice has caught the ears of a community of music lovers the world over with her honest storytelling and raw, beautiful voice.
So who are Angus & Julia Stone?
Celebrating a career that spans over 10 years, Angus & Julia Stone have released countless hits since first performing together in 2006. South African fans can finally look forward to seeing their favourite songs performed live and with a selection of timeless gems such as “Big Jet Plane”, “Just a boy”, “Heart Beats Slow”, “A Heartbreak”, “Mango Tree” and “Paper Aeroplane”, each show promises to be nothing less than spectacular.
Angus & Julia Stone will also perform songs from their 4th studio album, “Snow”, which was released on September 15. The album features 12 glorious tracks penned by Angus and Julia together and is the next chapter in an immensely successful career. “Snow” already accounts for over half a million album sales in Australia alone and was produced, and largely engineered, by the Sydney-born siblings themselves.
“It was quite magical because Angus and I have never spent that much time together, just the two of us,” says Julia. “There’s always at least an engineer or tour manager but the last phase of writing and recording was just eight weeks of him and me and the quiet of the land. It was a beautiful time.”
“It’s exciting to share new music with people for sure… but to be honest, it’s not why I got into writing music,” says Angus. “For me it’s always just been an expression… but it’s a great feeling if people are digging it”
The duo also recently revealed the exquisite road trip music video for their latest single, Chateau. The narrative for the music video is played out by leading Australian actors Courtney Eaton, who starred most recently in Mad Max Fury Road, and Dacre Montgomery, who featured in Power Rangers and is the new lead in Stranger Things Season 2 (which premiered on Netflix in 2017).
