Are you living in the Mother City? Don’t feel like undertaking the trek up North to Oppikoppi 2015 to watch three amazing international acts? Well, you’re in luck thanks to Hilltop Live (the nice people who bring you Oppikoppi every year), One Night in Cape Town returns this year and will feature not one, but two nights of great live music.
On the 6th of August 2015, Gogol Bordello will be headlining night one of One Night in Cape Town 2015 and two unique Cape Town acts will bring their unique blend of punk, gypsy, blues, pirate, folk to support them: The Nomadic Orchestra and Mr Cat & The Jackal. Both are infamous within the local scene for re-igniting a once dying genre, there could be no better pairing.
On the 7th of August 2015 Twin Atlantic and Brand New will be headlining night two of One Night in Cape Town 2015 and The Plastics will be opening for them. This Cape Town act became a household name after they broke onto the scene with their debut album ‘Shark’ which included the track ‘Caves” which went to No 1 on various Campus Radio stations as well as spent 4 weeks at No 1 on 5FM’s Rock Chart hosted by Jon Savage. Since then, the band released ‘Best Pretenders’ which saw them being nominated for two MK awards for “Best Group” and “Best Indie Band”.
Both these shows will be held at Shimmy Beach Club at the V & A Waterfront. Tickets are available for R400 per show on the Computicket website.
