WÊRELD is super proud and excited to announce a new series of workshops called YNG MSTRS. The workshop’s vision is to harvest and share the wisdom and skillsets of a wide range of young creatives. These creatives have mastered their chosen creative paths.
I think that these workshops are great for creatives / musicians who are struggling to reach their full potential. If you fall into that category, keep on reading.
More info about WÊRELD
WÊRELD was founded in 2015 by a group of like-minded musicians and visual artists. These musicians and artists were all crafting exquisite artworks on the fringes of the mainstream.
Initially the collective functioned a bit like an indie record label. WÊRELD released music, did press and put together beautiful audio-visual shows. The golden thread in the group was that all the auteur-driven projects consisted of music and art created through strong artistic visions with an experimental sensibility.
Most of the musical projects in the collective were comprised of one or two or three members (so not really “bands” in the traditional sense), often combining analogue and digital creative processes in interesting ways.
WÊRELD put together four big showcases between 2015 and 2018. They also put together more than twenty smaller club and venue shows. The emphasis was on intimate audience connections.
However, founder Jaco van der Merwe realised that WÊRELD had become a platform for something bigger than music in 2019. The vision of connection has evolved. WÊRELD has become a wider platform for learning, sharing and making collaborative transcendental artworks in the world.
The first YNG MSTRS workshop is happening on Saturday 31 August at Open Window Campus in Irene, Centurion. The workshop will be hosted and presented by Jean-Louise Parker (Academie).
This musician, songwriter and teacher will focus on the key topics of Songwriting, Musicianship, Collaboration, Touring, Improvising and Creating. Tickets for this workshop range from R250 to R400 and are available HERE.
The next YNG MSTRS workshop in September 2019 will feature Henk van der Schyf (co-founder / owner of Park Acoustics, Capital Craft, African Beer Emporium). This workshop will focus on entrepreneurship in the creative industry. In October 2019 actor / comedian Schalk Bezuidenhout will present a workshop on writing, performance and comedy.
