A few days ago the trailer for Brightburn was released. This upcoming film is directed and David Yarovesky. It’s co-produced by James Gunn (who brought us the Guardians of The Galaxy films).
Brightburn answers the question “What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?”
Take note that this film is a horror take on the Superman origins / mythos. This film is in no way associated within DC Comics and its Extended Universe.
A couple adopts a baby who came from the stars. While they attempt to raise the boy to use his powers for good, an evil begins to grow from inside that he unleashes.
The screenplay for the film was written by Mark and Brian Gunn. Both of them are also writing the script for the Starsky & Hutch TV reboot.
Elizabeth Banks (who appeared in The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect films), David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn (, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner will be starring in the film.
Brightburn will be released in theatres in May 2019. Judging by the trailer below, this film is going to be interesting (to say the least). The curious person inside me wants to check this out.
What do you think? Are you heading off to the cinema to watch Brightburn when it’s released next year? Leave a comment and let me know. Feedback is appreciated.
