Capital Craft 2019: Beer chat with Jack Black Brewing Company

Jack Black Brewing Company is one of the breweries who will be selling their brews at the 2019 edition of Capital Craft Beer Festival on the 16th of June in Pretoria.

Jack Black Brewing Company is one of the favourite breweries and I really like their brews. They are one of the most popular craft breweries in South Africa and I’m looking forward to sampling their brews at the festival.

I recently had a chat to the okes from Jack Black Brewing Company about Capital Craft 2019 and a few other things. This is what they had to say…

How did it all start for you guys?

It started way back in 2007. We were slinging beers from a barrel at the Old Biscuit Mill Neighbourgoods Market in Cape Town. This was inspired by the surge of craft beer in Canada and started brewing in Cape Town. We wanted to bring some delicious variety to the mostly mainstream beers on offer.

More than 10 years later we’re super proud to stand next to our fellow craft brewers, to continue to grow craft beer in this country.

What is your favourite drinking song?

Billy Joel – “We didn’t start the fire”.

What is your favourite quote about beer?

“He was a wise man who invented beer” Plato.

Truth. It’s painted on a wall in our brewery.

Why should punters sample your brews at Capital Craft Beer Festival?

Because they’re bloody delicious! We’re also bringing variety, so there’s something for everyone. Our Lager is the perfect beer to kick off the day with.

Our Cape Pale Ale and Atlantic Weiss are great if you’re looking for something a little fruitier and refreshing. If you’re ready for something with a bit more punch our Butcher Block, Lumberjack and Skeleton Coast beers are the ones you’re looking for.

Which brew do you recommend and why?

Our Fresh Hop IPA for sure. It’s one hell of a beer, and the first of our limited releases for the year. We brew it seasonally using hand-picked whole cone hops. The result is a fully loaded, fucking yummy IPA. Rumour has it that this year’s batch is the best it’s ever been.

What can we expect from Jack Black Brewing Company at the 2019 edition of Capital Craft Beer Festival?

Great beers and a great vibe.

I’d like to thank the okes from Jack Black Brewing Company for this interview and I wish them all of the best at Capital Craft 2019. If you don’t have tickets yet, get yours HERE.
