I’ve started using Crabhands and I’m loving it. It’s a greap app that makes sure that you never miss a New Music Release from one of your favourite artists on Spotify.
Crabhands was started to make it a bit easier to keep track of new music releases and festival line-ups. It’s available on Google Play and iOS App Store.
Once the app is installed, it scans your Spotify account and tracks the artists you follow and (optionally) artists you have saved music for. The app then lets you know as soon as they release new music on Spotify. You also have an option to add the new releases to a special playlist that it creates in your Spotify account.
Crabhands syncs your artists automatically before checking for new releases throughout the day. You can also manually add artists on the app that you want Crabhands to track. You can also share and announce new music releases with your friends from within the app.
My Crabhands experience
I installed the app over the weekend and I have to admit that it works well. The playlist it creates shows up as “crabhands” on your Spotify account. It added new releases from The Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, Two Door Cinema Club and The Rolling Stones (all artists who I follow) onto the playlist.
Crabhands also added a few songs by artists that I thought I unfollowed on Spotify. I immediately unfollowed them. This is a really nifty way to stay up to date with new music releases.
Festival junkies take note! If you’re planning to go to a music festival in the near future this might be useful info. The app also keeps you updated about festivals that are happening soon and their respectively line-ups.
There’s currently 165 festivals listed on my Crabhands. I almost drooled on my phone when I saw some of them. Maybe one day I’ll get my music-loving arse to Download, Roskilde, Glastonbury or Graspop, who knows?
I recommend this app for any music lover who wants to stay up to date with the latest music releases and music festival updates.
