Earlier this year my dad and I attended the Super 14 Semi Final rugby match between the Bulls and the Crusaders at Orlando Stadium in Soweto (on the outskirts of Johannesburg). It was a truly remarkable experience (that I’ve previously blogged about). My dad and I were seated very close to the field. At one point during the match I got up and snapped this Daily Cool Photo of the crowd watching the game behind us.
Orlando Stadium was opened in 1959 and can accommodate +/- 37,000 people. It is home venue for Orlando Pirates Football Club, a professional soccer team, which plays in the Premier Soccer League. The stadium was originally built for the Johannesburg Bantu Football Association.
