Deadline: 10 Facts You Did Not Know

In case you did not know, Deadline are a 6 piece old school heavy metal band from Pretoria, South Africa. They are driven by power and they pride themselves on a raw, passionate and energetic live show. They aim to bring the spirit of 1987 to today’s metal scene without losing the edge and appeal of this ever changing and dynamic scene.

Deadline was formed in September 2014 as a project to teach their bassist Baz Steel to play a musical instrument. It soon exploded out of the garage and onto a stage playing their first gig on the 7th of March 2015.

    Deadline

Deadline gigged a little during 2015 but lost their drummer at the end of April 2015. They eventually replaced him with Dizzy and got back on the saddle at the end of 2015. They hit the South African heavy metal circuit from January 2016 with power and energy and the rest as they say is heavy metal history. Their new album, Cathedral Point will be released on the 26th of June 2020.

There’s probably a lot that you don’t know about this band, but today I’m changing that…

Here are 10 facts you might not have know about Deadline

    1. Baz Steel has developed and released two tabletop role-playing game systems called ‘Might’ and ‘Bullet’ and he hopes to release a follow up to ‘Might’ later this year.

    2. Dizzy Styxx does not store his drumsticks in a conventional drum stick holder during shows. He actually sits on his substitute drum sticks and should one go flying he immediately grabs it from between his legs.

    3. Raven Chaos’ least favourite song to play live is ‘Bloodbeast’ even though he wrote all the riffs for the song.

    4. Judge Mental is not only a man of law within the ambit of the band but also in real life. When he isn’t playing guitar in Deadline he practices law and has his own law firm.

    5. Speaking of real jobs, The Skullprit is a full time auditor and works at a large global corporate.

    6. Jessy Switchblade is a massive Lady Gaga fan and often uses her as inspiration when he writes melodies for songs.

    7. Lady Blitzkrieg’s (Lady Blitzkrieg is the band’s mascot kinda like Iron Maiden has Eddie) real name is Beverley Lemkic.

    8. On the eve of going to record Black Wolf City the band swapped ‘The Watchers’ with ‘Thorn In My Side’ as at the 11th hour they were unhappy with the structure of the song. ‘The Watchers’ was re-written and is now on Cathedral Point..

    9. Cathedral Point took a total of 7 months to record from the first day of tracking to the final master of the intro. The process was delayed for many reasons but the most random reason was Jessy flew to Dubai in December 2019 to get his girlfriend back. It worked for two months. He is single again.

    10. Deadline played their first live show in a friend’s basement in front of 60+ close friends.

Well, there you have it, 10 facts you might not have known about Deadline. If you haven’t heard their music before, crank up their track, ‘Bloodbeast’ below:

The band will be premiering a new music video for their track “Before I Die” on Friday the 19th of June 2020 at 9 AM (CAT) HERE.

Coming in at 200 BPM, this turbo-charged track is filled with passion, grit and determination. It will also be the fastest way of cheering anyone up. This stirring Old School Heavy Metal Banger has the potential of becoming an anthem to unite all brothers and sisters in pure Metal Power. Stand up! Reach out! Help out!
