Deezer is a great way to discover new music and make playlists that are pleasing to one’s eardrums. Great news that this music streaming service has made it a little easier for music fans to discover new music by launching Deezer Next in South Africa. This programme is aimed at creating exposure for emerging local artists. Deezer Next allows users to discover a selection of emerging artists from South Africa and beyond.

The platform will promote the artists to new audiences and “enable music lovers to discover the next generation of stars.” Deezer Next has already rolled out its priority artists globally and has now announced the four Deezer Next South African artists. The Deezer Next South African artists include Dominic Neill (who is signed with Universal Music and has performed with DJ Kent), Raheem Kemet, Cape Town rockers Southern Wild & Robin Thirdfloor.

Deezer Next has been focusing on up to 12 developing artists per country across territories and genres that have been hand-selected by Deezer. Of the 12, three of the chosen artists are supported at a global level, with up to a further 9 artists championed in local markets, including the US, UK, Germany, France and Latin America, based on their unique talent, passion and potential.

Deezer works directly with the artists, record labels and managers to cultivate and develop their profile through play-listing and the creation of individual content and campaigns with editorial and marketing support across all channels, including video, podcast, social and/or interactive.

This is great news for South African musicians! It’s about time that our artists get great exposure to a global audience.
