Today I’m featuring Nare Kaskenades by Die Heuwels Fantasties on Running Wolf’s Rant. It’s difficult to translate this Afrikaans phrase into English but it roughly translates into “Awful Chaos”. (And in case you have forgotten or didn’t know Die Heuwels Fantasties translates into “The Hills Fantastic”).
This song was done in collaboration with Arno Kruger. This Afrikaans Electro group has been nominated for three 2010 MK Awards. Quite impressive considering that they released their first album in 2009. Die Heuwels Fantasties are currently on tour through the coastal regions of South Africa.
They will be appearing at Flamingo’s in Langebaan on the 15th of December (As part of Vanfokkingtasties), at the Forbidden Fruit Festival in Hermanus (along with Van Coke Kartel, Sugardrive and a few other bands) on the 22nd of December, at Die Groot Gees Fees in Stilbaai (along with Van Coke Kartel, Fokofpolisiekar and a few other artists) on the 26th of December, at the Piesang Valley Town Hall in Plettenberg Bay on the 28th of December (as part of Vanfokkingtasties), at the Havannah Sports Bar in Jeffrey’s Babe on the 29th December (along with Van Coke Kartel) and at the Mossel Bay Town Hall on the 30th of December (as part of Vanfokkingtasties).
I’m sure that Die Heuwels Fantasties will be well received by holiday makers and locals at these gigs. They truly are one of the best musical acts ever to come out of the Afrikaans community in South Africa. The photo of Die Heuwels Fantasties on this post was taken by your’s truly at Oppikoppi 2009 Smoorverlief earlier this year.
