Great news! Yesterday Australian Dance-Punk Duo DZ Deathrays announced that they will be touring South Africa in 2018!

In case you did not know, DZ Deathrays hail from Brisbane and are composed of Shane Parsons (on vocals and guitar) and Simon Ridley (on drums). They released two EPs before releasing their debut album (“Bloodstreams”) in April 2012. The album won the ARIA (Australia’s equivalent of the Grammys) for Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Album in the year it was released.

According to Keith Murray (from NME): “This album (Bloodstreams) has the potential to make your little sister want to shave her head and invest in mock leather hotpants. It’s the penned seduction of a weekend of irresponsibility and a Monday full of inferior excuses.”

DZ Deatrays released their second studio album (“Black Rat”) in 2014 and their 3rd Studio album (“Bloody Lovely”) will be released in February 2018. They’ve toured the world with bands like Blood Red Shoes, TRUSTFoo Fighters and Unknown Mortal Orchestra and played at festivals like Reading & Leeds (in the UK), Splendour in the Grass and St Jerome’s Laneway (in Australia) and SXSW (in the USA) and now they’ll be making their way to South Africa for the first time.

You can catch DZ Deathrays live at these festivals and venues in March 2018:

  • 24  March 2018 – Mercury Live, Cape Town
