When it comes to film, Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite directors. I’ve seen ALL of his films. I still remember watching Pulp Fiction for the first time in 1995 (when I was in my last year of high school). It’s still one of my favorite films of all time.
Recently Tarantino wrote and directed the Academy Award winning film, Django Unchained. The film was nominated for 5 Oscars and walked away with 2 in the end (For Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay). Django Unchained is a very violent film (like most Tarantino films). A lot of foul language is used in it. The word “Nigger” is used 213 times in the film (which must be some kind of record). There has been a huge public outcry in the US both for and against the excessive usage of the word in the film. Although I think this is kinda excessive, I did thoroughly enjoy the film. It was definitely one of my favorite films of 2012.
Tarantino has been very outspoken about his films over the years. A few years ago Tarantino directed Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Both of these films were extremely violent, but were brilliant films. The casting was brilliant, the storyline wasn’t boring and the action sequences were beautifully executed. When someone commented that Kill Bill was a violent movie, he responded with this epic Tarantino quote
Tarantino does make a valid point with this quote. Many of you reading this post may not be fan of his films, but I am. The beauty of CHOICE is that you can switch off the TV or stop the DVD if you don’t like a movie. The same goes for loud music. If you don’t like Metallica or Foo Fighters, switch off the friggin’ radio or skip the song on your MP3 player. Plain and simple. I do this when I hear a Justin Bieber song on the radio and it works for me.
