Hilltop Live have announced the first 8 local acts who will be performing at this year’s Oppikoppi festival. In true tech savvy style these announcements were made via the official Oppikoppi app (which is currently available for Android phones and is going be released for iOS soon). The announcements were made via a augmented reality feature (which takes some getting used to if you’ve installed the app). It seems that some of you might get lucky if you install and use the app: 2 lucky winners have already won tickets to the festival, so maybe you should CLICK HERE to install it if you want to save some moolah.
The first 8 acts that have been announced are Johannesburg rockers Newtown Knife Gang, SA Music veterans Springbok Nude Girls, Hip Hop / rock / electro maestro Spoek Mathambo, silly Jozi indie rockers Shortstraw, the Schalk Joubert band, Bellville rockers aKING, Bellville rockers and SAMA 2014 winners Van Coke Kartel and legendary mid 1990’s Cape Town rockers Squeal.
Just by typing and reading these the SA Music fan inside me just had a little orgasm and the little voice inside my head is saying “Hierdie gaan befok wees”.
Oppikoppi Odyssey 2014 will be held from the 7th to the 9th of August, promises to be one of the musical highlights of the year and should not be missed if you like good music. It’s also the 20th anniversary edition of what has become South Africa’s premium music festival and if this announcement is an indication the of the epic line-up, you should already be buying your ticket.
General admission tickets cost R700 per person and includes an event t-shirt and camping for the weekend. This offer is available on the OppiKoppi Facebook page or on www.plankton.mobi. Tickets are selling like hot cakes, so move your arse, you don’t want to miss out on this one.
