Great news for rock fans all over the world, Foo Fighters will be releasing their 7th studio album in April 2011. I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve been listening to this alternative / post-grunge rock band since they released their first album in 1995. Dave Grohl (the ex-drummer of Nirvana), Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Pat Smear are the current members of Foo Fighters.
Their new album entitled Wasting Light will be their first release since 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. Foo Fighters first received a Grammy Award for their music video for “Learn to Fly” in 2000 and have won 6 in total. These incl 3 for Best Rock Album for There Is Nothing Left To Lose, One By One and Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace; and 2 for Best Hard Rock Performance for the songs “All My Life” and “The Pretender”. Foo Fighters started to record their new album with legendary producer Butch Vig (who also produced the Nevermind album for Nirvana in 1991 and the Siamese Dream album for the Smashing Pumpkins in 1993). I’m thinking that Wasting Light will be one of the must-buy records of 2011. A while ago Foo Fighters released a song from the album entitled Rope. This song has been selected to be featured on Running Wolf’s Rant today. I love this song and I’m sure that I’ll be singing along to it in no time, it just needs to grow on me (like most new songs I hear).
This is the music video for Rope:
