Friday Loud: White Zombie – Electric Head Pt. 2 (the Ecstasy)

Great News! It’s Friday Loud time on Running Wolf’s Rant again. Today I’m taking you back in time to the mid 1990’s with some White Zombie. The song I’ve selected is “Electric Head Pt. 2 (the Ecstacy)”. This tune was one of my favorite tunes to rock out to during the Shaft days in Pretoria and it’s still one of my favorite loud songs today.

“Electric Head Pt. 2 (the Ecstacy)” was originally released on White Zombie’s 1995 album, Astro Creep 2000. The song contains audio samples taken from the 1971 movie Shaft. In the song, the lyrics “A fistful of hair and a splinter in the mind” could possibly refer to Lucio Fulci’s 1979 film Zombie in which a zombie grabs a woman by the hair and pulls her through a closet, causing a shard of wood to pierce her eye.

“Astro Creep 2000” proved to be White Zombie most commercially successful recording – the album peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200 in the USA. Sadly White Zombie split up in 1998, but lead singer Rob Zombie went on have a successful solo career and has even ventured into the realm of acting and directing movies.

The music video, the second music video made for a song from the Astro Creep album, shows the band playing in a circus of freaks, clowns and monsters while riding on a truck. Freaky as hell, but load enough for Friday Loud on Running Wolf’s Rant. Turn this up to get you into a good mood before the weekend.

So, does this song get you into a good mood for the weekend or not? Leave a comment and let me know what you think. Feedback is appreciated and welcome here. If you enjoyed this post, feel free to share it with your friends.
