Oppikoppi 2014 Odyssey is only 16 days away and the excitement surrounding it increased earlier today when the organizers of the festival, Hilltop Live, announced the full line-up and schedule for this year’s festival. Now there might be some folks who might be asking “Where’s the rest of the internationals?”, but I think that they’re not thinking logically. There will be no less than 15 internationals acts at this year’s festival. I’m speaking under correction, but that must be a friggin’ record for a South African music festival.
Yes, the acts are not all massive, but the incredible local line-up makes up for it. The negative folks should also remember that Oppikoppi is not reserved for rock music. Every genre and is catered for to ensure that everyone from veldskoen Frikkie to Vlad the Metalhead to Thabiso the hip hop fanatic to Shane the Dubstep mongoloid will have a good time.
This is Thursday the 7th of August 2014’s full schedule and line-up. Acts I’m looking forward to on this day are State Society, Wrestlerish, Juggernaught, Dead Lucky, Squeal, Boargazm, 3rd World Spectator, Newtown Knife Gang, Kite Rider, Man as Machine, Wonderboom and Bittereinder.
This is Friday the 8th of August 2014’s full schedule and line-up. This is Saturday the 9th of August 2014’s full schedule and line-up. Acts I’m looking forward to are Jonathan Peyper, The Sunday Punchers, Schalk Joubert Band, Lucy Kruger, Michael Lowman, Hugh Masekela & Ollie Viljoen, Albert Frost & Dan Patlansky, Cat Power, Jonathan Martin Band, Shortstraw, The Inspector Cluzo, aKING, Spoek Mathambo, Editors, Nomadic Orchestra, Rival Sons, Wolfmother and Valiant Swart.
