Great news movie buffs! The long-awaited full trailer for Super Troopers 2 was released yesterday. The film will be released on the 20th of April 2018 in the USA.
I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of comedy movies in general, but I’ve probably watched the original Super Troopers movie (which was released in 2001) more than 10 times and I still laugh when I watch it every single time. Needless to say, when I heard that there was a sequel in the works, I wish I had the ability to jump over the moon to express my excitement.
In case you did not know, Broken Lizard launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $2 Million to produce the film in March 2015. They already surpassed their goal within 26 hours and the movie was greenlit. They raised a total of $4.4 million in the campaign.
The original film did not make a ton of money at the box office, but over the years it has gained a huge cult following, which is probably the Indiegogo campaign got so much traction. Originally the film was supposed to be a prequel, but the film’s director (who also stars in the film), Jay Chandrasekhar later confirmed that it would be a sequel and that it would pick up where the first film ended.
Super Troopers 2 will re-unite the cast from the original film – Trooper Arcot “Thorny” Ramathorn (Jay Chandrasekhar), Trooper Jeff Foster (Paul Soter), Trooper MacIntyre “Mac” Womack (Steve Lemme), Trooper Robert “Rabbit” Roto (Erik Stolhanske), Trooper Rodney “Rod” Farva (Kevin Heffernan), Captain John O’Hagen (Brian Cox) and Officer Ursula Hanson (Marisa Coughlan) will all be back in the sequel.
The full Red Band trailer (a trailer which contains swearwords) was released as a Chive Exclusive and has already reached over 190,000 views in the last 14 hours on YouTube. Check it out below.
I really hope that the sequel doesn’t disappoint. The gags look really funny and I really hope that the best bits are NOT in the trailer. It looks like we’re going to have a bit of a laugh though.
