Today Gad de Combes of Shortstraw fame released a brand new track. It’s the first track he’s recorded this year under his solo project Adventure Man. The song is called “Queen Anne Tea”. It imagines a future where a couple lives together in harmony with their pets, in a world where everything comes together with a cup of tea.
It’s a departure from Adventure Man’s usual sound. Gad introduces a more electro-pop feel into his trademark combination of playful storytelling, humour and heart.
This new release comes ahead of Gad De Combes’ upcoming international tour across Europe. This marks his first solo venture overseas as Adventure Man. He is no stranger to international audiences. He has performed several times with Shortstraw across Europe, Australia and Japan. Gad is excited to showcase his refreshing blend of light-hearted earnest indie pop in new places.
Beginning in mid-October, he’ll be opening for one of South Africa’s biggest acts, The Parlotones across Europe. He will be performing in no less than 14 cities in three weeks. The tour kicks off in Konstanz in Germany and weaves through most of the country, including stops in hotspots like Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt and Hamburg.
He will also performing in Austria and Switzerland in between, before ending off in Prague in the Czech Republic. With just his keys and ukulele, Gad will delight audiences with his catchy melodies, quirky lyrics and a touch of nostalgia as he sings about his dogs, favourite movies and classic video games.

I cranked up “Queen Anne Tea” and I have to admit that I like the fact that it’s an extremely vibey tune. It was exactly what the doctor ordered for the first Friday in October 2018. It’s different than Gad’s older stuff, but it’s great. Crank it up at one of the links below, I’m pretty sure that you won’t be disappointed.
