We have all done it at some point in our lives. Yes I am referring to downloading or copying cracked games.
Pirating or Cracking has become the Robin Hood of the software industry – Bringing games for free to the poor man’s hard drive. With game prices sky-rocketing it does not take a genius to figure out that cracking games have also become a massive enterprise, with groups like 3DM and Skidrow taking the lead in this department. But this may all come to an end according to 3DM’s cracker Bird Sun.
Talking about Just Cause 3, Bird Sun said “The last stage is too difficult and Jun nearly gave up, but last Wednesday I encouraged him to continue.”
“I still believe that this game can be compromised,” she continued, “but according to current trends in the development of encryption technology, in two years time I’m afraid there will be no free games to play in the world.”
Bird Sun is of-course talking about the new Denuvo Anti-Tamper software used by Just Case 3 and many other AAA titles. Denuvo Anti-Tamper technology prevents the debugging, reverse engineering and changing of executable files to strengthen the security of games. It is not a DRM solution, but rather, Denuvo Anti-tamper protects DRM solutions, such as Origin Online Access or the Steam license management system, from being circumvented.
I am personally against the Pirating of software because of the negative effects it has on the industry , but what is your opinion? Let us know in the comments section.
