Great news! HBO has released a teaser trailer for Game of Thrones Season 8. No major plot points are given away, but it looks like we can expect a great battle.
The animated short clip shows ice and fire sweeping over a map of Westeros. A direwolf is covered in ice (most likely House Stark), a dragon is frozen (most likely House Targaryen or the zombie dragon Viserion). Fire also engulfs a lion figure (most likely House Lannister).
At the end of the clip the two elements clash in the middle. This is most likely representing a pretty epic battle in the final season of the show. Check it out below:
That’s all good and well, but the most important thing for me is the fact that we know it’s going to be released in April 2019 (the teaser trailer makes that very clear).
Here are a few things that you should know about Game of Thrones Season 8:
- Filming of the last season wrapped up in early July 2018.
- You can expect six feature-length episodes (that could be anywhere between one or two hours long each).
- Rumor has it that the budget is around $15 million per episode for the final season. To put things into perspective: the budget for the first season was around $6 million an episode.
- Several different endings are being shot by HBO in an effort to prevent hackers from ruining the finale.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m extremely excited to see what happens in Game of Thrones Season 8. I just hope that we won’t be dealing with a crappy ending. Some HBO shows have had them you know. The Wire, True Blood & The Sopranos come to mind.
